How to use a hanging car diffuser: 5 steps to get the scent right

A hanging car diffuser is the simplest way to scent a car: no plugs, no batteries, no mess. Here is how to set one up properly.

How it works

The wooden lid soaks up the fragrance from the glass bottle and releases it slowly into the car.

Set up in 5 steps

1. Unscrew the lid.
2. Remove the inner stopper.
3. Screw the lid back on, making sure it is secure.
4. Gently invert the bottle to release the scent into the lid. Repeat a few times until you can smell the fragrance through the wooden lid.
5. Hang it where you like and adjust the string length. Keep it short enough that the diffuser cannot reach the windscreen while you drive.

Where to hang it

Hang it somewhere with a little airflow and clear of your view of the road. It is designed not to leak when used as directed.

When the scent fades

Repeat step 4. Inverting the bottle again lets more fragrance soak into the wooden lid.
